Hello.  My name is Lisa Schweigert and am the proprietor of Ruff Paws LLC.  Though you wouldn’t know it by the title, I create skin care for humans.  I live in rural Montana and my best buddies are my two dogs, Gus and Gracie. They inspired the choice for my skin care product name.

35 Years ago I started making soap on a whim.  I loved it!  Hand crafted, artisan soap makes wonderful gifts. Every year that’s what you could expect from me at Christmas or your birthday.    My friends and family said “You should sell this stuff.  It’s great!”  So the side hustle began. I learned that soap can be not only great for the skin but can have an artist twist. Some soaps can be so drying. To combat that, I super fat my soap at %6 which leaves some of the oils available to keep skin smooth and hydrated. I believe, to call soap artisan, it has to be pretty, soothing and smell great! It is always my intention to use natural fragrance oils and sustainably sourced essential oils.

Over the years, I became interested in healing herbs,  ethical foraging and gardening.  I took classes and learned from experts how to create salves infused with these nourishing plants. I have developed  soothing products that my clients love.  The three salves I have available are infused with plants that I either forage or grow in my garden. The ingredients are know to be skin loving and have healing.

Emulsions were my next project.  These products involve some chemistry.  Adding water to oils requires preservatives to keep them for growing bacteria. It is my aim to use the most natural yet effective product for safety and efficacy. I have come up with lovely lotions and creams that are neither greasy nor sticky yet hydrating and restorative.

Because of my desire to decrease the use of plastics, my products are primarily packaged in either glass or tin.  That lead me down the road to create shampoo bars.  No plastic. Travels well.  And they are great for your hair!  Even color treated hair. 

So, my fun has lead me to my passion and  the journey to create my own cottage business.   Everything I produce is small batch, nourishing and made with love.  I truly hope you enjoy my products and look forward to hearing from you.
